About Us

Chop Suey has been one of Seattle's most beloved live music venues since it opened its doors on East Madison Street, and the 1,100-plus reviews averaging 4.3 stars tell you exactly why. This is the room where emerging artists break through and touring acts like Uno The Activist and Warhol.ss have stopped on their way through the Pacific Northwest. The stage is intimate enough that you can actually see the performer's face, and the sound system hits hard without turning into a wall of mush.

The club sits in a sweet spot on Capitol Hill, small enough to feel like a secret but big enough to host a real show. On any given weekend you might walk in on a hip-hop showcase, an indie rock bill, or a DJ set that keeps the floor moving until close. That variety is the point. Chop Suey has never locked itself into one genre, which is why the crowd skews curious rather than cliquey.

And yes, there is a hot dog stand right out front selling eight-dollar dogs, because sometimes the best pre-show ritual is a sidewalk snack before you push through the doors into the noise.

What We Offer

The main draw is the live music calendar, which runs several nights a week and covers hip-hop, electronic, indie, and everything in between. Tickets are typically priced accessibly, keeping the room full of people who actually care about the music rather than just the scene.

Beyond ticketed shows, Chop Suey runs club nights built for dancing, with DJs who read the room and keep the energy climbing. The bar is stocked and the staff keeps things moving, so you spend more time on the floor and less time waiting. The venue also hosts private events and can be rented for album release parties, industry showcases, and late-night celebrations that need a real stage and a real sound system.

The layout rewards both the front-row devotee and the person who wants to hang back near the bar and let the music wash over them. However you like to experience a show, the room accommodates it.

Why Choose Us

Rated 4.3 out of 5 across more than 1,100 reviews from real Seattle concertgoers.
Intimate Capitol Hill venue where you are never more than 50 feet from the stage.
Multi-genre booking means something new and worth seeing every single week.
Nationally touring artists and local breakthroughs share the same storied stage.
Casual enough for a spontaneous Tuesday night out, electric enough for a headline show.
Street-level hot dog stand outside keeps the pre-show ritual deliciously simple.

"🎬 The venue for the November 13, 2017 stop in Seattle, Washington for the Hate Me Now/Love Me Later Tour (featuring Uno The Activist, Thouxanbanfauni, and Warhol.ss) was Chop Suey. It was a pleasure to photograph your venue. ★★★★★"

"Chop Suey is a regular going out location for me! It's pretty small/low key as far as dance clubs but I think that makes it a great casual going out spot for dancing. I also really like that they have a second bar and seating area you can chill in. My only complaint is that the DJ sets are pretty unpredictable in terms of quality. I've gone to totally awesome nights (Shadowplay was great, I loved disco night with DJ Chardonnay!!!) but I have definitely seen too many DJs who leave a lot to be desired... Playing beats too slow to dance to, can't transition between songs, and even stop the music to talk? (One time there was a guy who stopped the music so many times the crowd started booing him LOL) I always have a good time because I think there's a great vibe but I think they could work on vetting their DJs a little more."

"I hadn’t been to Chop Suey in a very long time. I was quite pleasantly surprised at how well it was laid out. Sight lines to the stages are great, not a bad place to watch in the club. Friendly staff and bartenders too. I’ll be back soon!"

"The sound was incredible! The bartender friendly, and while they don't currently have Meyer's Rum, he was able to make a suggestion to make the most of it! Did I mention the sound? It is awesome!"
